XWD Tire matching tolerances

I hit a curb and took out 1 of my tires on my 2008 Areo SportCombi XWD SAAB. I’ve been told everything from ‘you must replace all 4 at the same time’ to ‘If you drive a 4WD or AWD vehicle, your tires should match in tread depth, brand, model, and size.’ and ‘check your owner’s manual to determine the acceptable tolerances between tires.’ Unfortunately, the manual does not address this.
I have found the same brand, model and size of tire, but how close does the thread depth have to be? My 3 remaining tire have ½ - ¾ of their thread left, so I’d hate to have to replace them all.
Anybody out there know the answer to this question?
