This can be done w/o removing windsheild as I have done it. Trick is to roll it into place, as it is not possible to slide it on from one end.
Remove side trim from windshield.
Work one end of the old trim loose by rolling it forward toward the front of the car. Pull it out with pliers.
Clean the body edges and winshield very thoroughly with rubbing alcohol.
Measure and mark both the center of the windshield and the trim strip.
Align the marks and staring at the center roll the strip over the windshield. Use a plastic mallet or a wood block to seat it fully. Work from the center to one end, then do the other side.
A small smear of silicone grease on the seal makes it easier, or you can just keep it wet with alcohol as you work.
