Manual Transmission Lock-Out is.... Funky!

I've got a 2007 SportCombi Aero Manual. 180k miles. It's never had a transmission issue before. But it's been parked for 6 months (it's my winter car now.) I went to fire it up yesterday and the transmission was incredibly stiff. I figured it just needed to warm up and have some fluid sloshed around in there, but even after some spirited driving and plenty of jiggling, it's just weird. It's sticky and stiff (which I can deal with.) But worse.... I need to pull the reverse lockout to get it to go from center neutral into the 1st/2nd shift area as well as into the 5th/6th shift area.
And it's nearly impossible to get it into reverse. I have to pull the lock-out, push it into the 5th/6th area and then take two hands and slam it as hard as I can to the left and then I'm able to push it into reverse.
Is the linkage serviceable/accessible anywhere under the car? Can I get a spray lubricant around to hit the top of the transmission/linkage at all? Or is the lock-out mechanism internal to the transmission?
