Anders,
Figured you could help me best with some heady diagnosis here.
2003 9-3SS (vector).
The notorious Code P0411 for "SAI system, incorrect air flow" is busting my mind.
Previously: diagnosed failed AIR PUMP. and was replaced with "OEM" Pierburg. The system was re-tested and PASSED On-board readiness test OK.
about a month later (now) the code came back. Pump still operational and performing well/strong flow. Pump-intake hose and charge-air side hose & connections all OK.
Removed the SAI combi-valve and found some saturation of black goo. Pretty wet stuff and not appearing to be very intrusive, but recommended for replacement while removed anyway.
Combi-valve exhaust pipe appeared clear at the outlet port.
Smoke tested for possible blockage....OK, BUT found a MINOR leak at the SAI exhaust-pipe mounting-flange near cylinder #1 area at the backside of the cylinder head. Shrugged it off at that point and put it all back together.
INTERESTING PART NOW:
new combi-valve now installed.
While performing drive-cycle for OBD readiness confirmation the CHECK ENGINE MIL came back on at the ~3 cold start.
Check OBD readiness and it said SAI system OK/PASS. But the P0411 code has returned. ???
Short of repairing the exhaust leak at the pipe flange/s, is the ANYTHING else we can attribute the return fault to?
Also, any explanation to suffice;
Why did it PASS readiness for SAI, but set a fault code anyway?
Trying to wrap my head around this. neew some better insight.
many thanks.
