'06 2.0T Combi, 125k miles

I drive low mileage (under 5k since last oil change), so last oil change I got at the (Cadillac) dealer when they did the airbag recall last Christmas. I go to my usual oil change place last week, and they can't get *any* of the bolts out of the valve cover for the shield over the oil filter by hand.
The guy said he didn't want to risk trying anything harder (appreciated) because he had a friend that cracked a valve cover using air tools to try and remove or install one.

so I was looking at options in case I break the valve cover while trying to remove the shield... I didn't find any as a replacement part on the typical replacement part sites. This is my daily driver, so I can't sit around with the car down if I break something, so working on contingencies before using a socket wrench or something for leverage.

what are my options? Does anyone know where to get a new valve cover, or am I looking at trying to get a salvage part? Any idea on what I should be paying if I were to go that route? Any other thoughts that I'm missing for options?

Thanks in Advance
Nick in Milwaukee
