Google BMW Old School Maintenance and you'll get an idea of what to replace. Fluids, Filters, Bushings, Shocks, etc. Basically if it moves or rubs, you'll eventually replace it. The BMW guys want to keep their cars for a really long time so they've come up with some pretty rigorous maintenance schedules - I know, I'm on my third three series - and they all had over 100k on them. Keep in mind that car companies want to sell new cars, so they set up their maintenance programs so your car will eventually wear out. If you follow old school maintenance you can practically keep your car forever. Only the tinworm will take it away from you. Just because your car was dealer maintained doesn't mean it will seemingly live forever.

300,000 miles is a pretty realistic expectation before big ticket items need replacement in a car that gets old school maintenance. I recently sold a Volvo 740 turbo wagon that we drove for 14 years and had 305k on it. The drivetrain was completely original and it ran like a top. I hope to keep our 9-5 Aero Sport Kombi for just as long. Saabs are great fun to drive, interesting, and have an enthusiastic following.
