I have a 2003 wagon with roof rails. I have used a roof-mounted Thule bike holder in the past but I much prefer the hitch mount. It's very easy-on easy-off and leaves the roof open for other stuff (kayak, carrier box).
We have the Thule "hitching post" and it holds 3 bikes easily, could do 4 in a pinch. Bought it online a few years ago from Performance, which is a big cycling retailer based in North Carolina.
