Not much to add more than being careful not to wish and hope to correct two different problems with one repair alone.
And to keep in mind that CAN system can be very finicky with different modules sending rouge packages of info through the CAN lines disturbing other modules.
Saab have not been as bad but Volvo from 99 and up is a nightmare in what can pop up as far as problems when modules goes off line or disturb the transfer of data.
I would start with the ESP/ABS module because of those symptoms and then focus on the next problem.
Since your 05 is a one year only for that ABS module it might make it difficult to find.
As a side note, I have now had 4 06 9-3 V6 with starting problems and stability message displayed which was traced to the ESP/ABS module.
Since that module is the gateway (or pass through) between ECM and ICM, when the ABS module acts up, it stops the ECM, TCM, AHL and UEC to talk to the rest of the car and all kinds of fault codes are triggered (mostly CIM communication codes) which could fool a tech to replace the CIM instead of the ESP/ABS module.
