Well, I do know one thing. I've been ripped off by the Sears auto department in both Falls Church, VA and Orlando, FL. Brutal, outright theft. I don't expect to get a brand new battery when I didn't even pay for the original, but the "stuff" Sears does is obscene. The Orlando Sears battery was only 4 months old, but my girlfriend goes to Falls Church and is presented with a bill for almost $ 150 and they never touched anything but the battery itself. What Orlando did was worse - I can't talk about it in detail because it would ruin my whole day. Here I am 5 years later and I haven't changed a single thing in the charging system of this same car (the 01) other than the battery and it is fine. Just went out and cranked it up for the first time since about Oct. 20 and bam!, started immediately.
Had a great experience with Sears in Amarillo in 2004 and they were once good in New Orleans. But now it is down IMO to an exceptional locality; the rest are not like yours.
