I rigged up some cables that use crocodile clips so I could clamp to the battery (or other points) and put the multimeter in the car so I could read it while turning the key... be aware that these are not necessarily perfect contacts, so there will be some uncertainty in your measurements as you connect/disconnect (do it multiple times and see what that uncertainty is)... I found some large crocodile clamps in an automotive big box store, but they are pretty common... the ones I used look kind of like the picture (if you google "crocodile clamps" you get a gazillion images of alligator clamps, which in my world are different and not as good at clamping on to bolts etc due to their more narrow "snout")...
