The fastest way to determine which side you are looking for without taking stuff apart is to have someone with a Tech 2 read the additional codes - that would give you the B codes that point to right or left.
If I'm not mistaken, the drivers side stop arm or shaft is the more common failure for the Code 8, or at least it seems that more people have documented repairing that side.
Reading the search results, it's not common to see a failure of the motors per se, but more so failures of the plastic parts of the airbox that the motors move.
