done - a few notes. Posted by TimN [Email] (#2379) [Profile/Gallery] (more from TimN) on Fri, 10 Mar 2017 18:17:36 In Reply to: Replacing vandalized window, TimN [Profile/Gallery] , Thu, 9 Mar 2017 05:27:14 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Just a note on swapping out the smashed 2007 window for the 2003.
The most stunning fact is that while a window occupies a finite area its broken shards number infinity. I spent more time trying to vacuum the pieces out than anything else.
At the junkyard the window was rolled up tightly. To access it I took out the window regulator (drove in the mandrel and drilled the cap) and pulled out everything that would come loose. After having extracted the regulator I decided to go ahead and purchase it, perhaps putting it on eBay later. The bill was $60 for the two.
Installation was just a step beyond replacing the green rollers. I didn't need to pull out any weather stripping pieces. for the door panel unscrew 3 Torx screws, push in and pull out the plastic expanding rivet on the bottom (2007) and coax the pins loose with a mangled fork. I had a bit of trouble getting the glass in the proper slot. I think there may have been glass pieces hiding in the rubber weather seal that hindered the process. A helper would have been nice. Somehow I managed to scratch the glass. Pop in the new green rollers ( always good to have spares) and put back together. Back to good.
My thanks for your responses.
