2001 9-5 is different compared to the 2007 Kevin posted about.
The 99-01 can very well be leaking more or less from the headgasket/timing cover joint, soaking the belt area, due to that they did have loose/bad headbolts from factory allowing the anaerobic sealant on the headgasket to be breached.
Still the white check valve should be check and system updated to what we call the PCV #6 update. Headbolts shold be replaced and head retorqued and then see if the leak is bad enough to deal with or not.
It could also be oil pump seal and O-ring or in a bad case, the water pump pulley cut a hole in timing cover.
