For me working on Volvo's as well it is a very easy fix when an M6 bolt strips out an it is not crucial to stay with the M6 size.
I tap the hole using an M7 tap and use many of the M7 bolts I have that Volvo is using all over its engine nowadays. After stripping down a few broken engines, I have a collection of M7 bolts in different length.
It's an quick and easy way instead of using a Timesert or Helicoil repair.
The same goes for the V6 engine plastic cover where the two front bolts into IDM can be stripped if tighten to much.
