Back in the day I would have a quart of matching paint mixed at an auto body supply store. They would then use the quart to prepare a couple or three spray cans and put the remainder into a small can for "brush" application. The only prepared "touch up" paint in the small tubes or cans that actually have matched for me ever were white, black, or clear. Any of the "colors" never did. The body shop supply paint always matched much better, although metallic colors depend on the spray technique as well as the paint itself to provide a good match. Even then the body shops will paint an entire panel and then "blend" any adjacent panels as the only way to provide a reasonably invisible repair.
