I bought a Walker cat a few months ago because the car would never set the emission-ready flag. I checked out the downstream O2 sensor and the signal never settled down, even on a long steady ride, which is a sure sign that the cat is doing nothing. When the Walker cat arrived, instead of a cone flange on the end of the pipe that connects to the flex pipe, mine had a flat stepped flange. I made it work with some high-temp RTV, but it was a stop gap to just get me through emissions testing. Since then, I got a double cone gasket that I think I can put in to keep the joint from leaking. The gasket is made by, of all people, Bosal. When the weather warms up, I'll put the gasket in and see if it seals.
I have no idea why Walker would put the wrong fitting on the cat. I wasn't in the mood to take it off the car and ship it back to get an explanation. It appears from the pictures of the Bosal cat that it has the correct connector, so I would go with them.
