I really don't know. I don't think there are any drain plugs in the floor. I ordinarily don't have too many back seat passengers (the box is under the driver's seat) but a lot of heavy snow + teenager oblivious to snow on boots = probable source of water back there. I "automatically" knock the snow off my boots before getting into the car, and I have the heavy Saab rubber mats installed. As I recall, the box is on a "plateau", but without being able to see the car (still in the shop awaiting the new TWICE box) I am not entirely certain as to how it is placed.
I've driven this car for 125K miles here in upstate NY (heavy snow/ice/salt) since I bought it as a CPO in 2004. First time I've experienced this problem. I don't think there is much you can do save the obvious - keep the precip away from that area. If you think about it, it seems like a particularly stupid place to put a piece of sensitive electronics, given Saab vehicles stellar (and well-earned) reputation as being great to drive in winter conditions.
