Yes see how long it takes to come back. If the cat is getting weak but not clogged and effecting performance many people option to put a spacer on the rear O2 which limits the air flow to the rear O2 and usually keeps the code from setting.
Another option but I think the update was before model year 03 was a T7 programming update. There was one released to combat code P0420 showing up even though the cat was still working fine. It delayed the time were the ecm started to monitor the rear O2. The explanation was that the V6 did not heat up the cat quick enough. By delaying the time before it was monitored it would be hot enough to be working when the ecm started checking. Good Luck, Bernie
