Try Bobc's very good suggestion, and it should guide you to inspect for the most likely causes.
Is the air on the driver side really cold, or just a little? I ask because in the event that it is not an ACC motor or flap linkage problem, it could be an AC system with too little refrigerant. Your description said that you have noticed this several times - I take it that in between it was okay ? And do both of your electric fans run when the AC is engaged and has worked a while ?
Low refrigerant can give a symptom in which the first part of an evaporator gets cooled by expanding refrigerant, but the other end does not because there is too little of the liquid phase of the refrigerant properly cooled to near ambient to soak up all the heat, so the gas is hot as it leaves the evaporator. I had this effect going on for a different brand of vehicle this summer until I topped off the R134a. When this is happening the 'cold' side of the evaporator is not really as cold as it should be either, so one simple thing is to run your AC in the LO setting and see whether you can get close to the WIS spec.
WIS says that with the ACC set to Max & "LO" with all panel outlets open the temp 2 inches (50mm) inside the center outlet should reach 7deg C (45deg F) when the ambient is 68-78 deg F (20-25 deg C) and the engine is at 1500-2000 rpm. If ACC seems to give no errors and you can't get 'sort of close' to this temp, then the AC may need some servicing.
Good luck - hope you can get this fixed !
