Creaking and Groaning Posted by Doug W [Email] (#2371) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Doug W) on Mon, 23 Jul 2018 21:43:12 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Took our '04 9-5 in for lower control arms, tie rod ends, sway bar links, and sub-frame bushings thinking I could extinguish the creaking, groaning, and clunking that comes from the front end. No dice. I got a huge charge from the post at the link attached.
Where do I go now? I know I have to replace the original front struts as they have 191,000 miles on them. I'll do the tower bearings too. The car still doesn't wallow and the steering is still precise. The alignment is good too.
Our indie said the subframe bushings are OK and not to replace them. When the time comes he recommended the purple PowerFlex ones. I've already had the two rear ones done and replaced with OEM ones.
Both my son's '03 Linear and the '04 Aero groan at low speed when turning the wheel. Any suggestions on what to look at. The '03 has Bilsteins and PowerFlex sub-frame bushings but no new lower control arms. The '04 Aero has original struts with new lower control arms, tie rod ends, and sway bar links.
If you DIY, Saabs are fun IMO. My tech friends tell me I'd be bored to tears if I bought a Camry to commute in.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
