I bought a new circle gage Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Thu, 16 Aug 2018 16:50:22 In Reply to: Re: Gap your new plugs!, Dave The Ice Age Knave [Profile/Gallery] , Mon, 13 Aug 2018 17:01:50 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I purchased an inexpensive gage 45 years ago to maintain my motorcycle. Gaged wires bent into L-shapes and loosely attached to stamped metal petals with too shallow of embossing to easily read the width. It was cheap and it worked for decades until the wires fell loose from the petals.
My Dad had a circular gage that I inherited 25 years ago. Worked great until I attempted to straighten the bent 0.030 gage wire last year. This wire had been bent for as long as I can remember. It snapped in half, leaving me with no good method to set plug gap on the mower.
Plus, neither plug gap tool could accommodate the 0.080 necessary for my son's car. So I bought a new circular gage that included this wider setting, in case I ever need it again, with my order of other car maintenance items recently from Rock Auto.
The body is plastic whereas my Dad's old gage hae a heavy metal body, but it works well.
