I'll assume you're writing about a SAAB 9-5 but this could be problematic on other cars as well. My SAAB 9-5 Borbet wheels came with a POS plastic centering ring and when it was time for the winter wheel/tire to be installed, problem.
It was not going on the hub at all. A beer later I guessed the problem, it was the centering ring which got stuck on the hub. Some wheels came off with it and on the others the centering ring separated and stayed put. A flat head screwdriver is your friend in times like these.
Dab some grease on the hub contact with wheel section for good measure.
Problem solved, for me anyway.
