Gray vs Black window switch packs & new vs old . . . Just posting for reference and future searches on compatibility.
I recently replaced the old faulty black switch pack in my daughter's 2006 9-5 SC with a new "2009" black switch pack - they are plug-compatible, BUT yes the switches themselves were redesigned so that it looks and feels different. I have no idea whether the redesign extended to the underlying contact and pivot design.
I only resorted to a new switch pack after taking the old one apart, cleaning, and re-assembling - then it failed again (too much melting/arc damage). All of this was for the Driver window only. I hope that the new switch pack will last the life of the car. I am hanging on to the bad switch pack for the day when my other daughter's car needs its switch pack rebuilt.
