They make a cheap gadget that has two wire brushes to clean the battery terminals and connectors. I have used different coatings for the terminals including Vaseline, silicone grease and a spray made for the purpose. All of them work as long as you clean the terminals and recoat about once a year. It could be that your battery is alright but not being charged completely because of the corrosion. Maybe have the store check it before replacement. I've also found new batteries are not completely charged so a few hours on a charger helps. An automatic battery charger can be a good friend in cold climates. With a 9-5, always check the positive battery cable too. This is a typical source of problems as a quick search will show, and it can prevent the battery from charging completely.
