A little more inspection reveals:

There was a P1251. I did not see a CEL last night, and haven't experienced any recent problems.
I hear the fuel pump energizing before cranking.
The tach does move while cranking.

I don't know if I can ignore a TBI issue, but if I want to concentrate on a fuel pump, either not staying energized or not being told to energize due to CKP, the place to start there is access to the pump wiring terminals. Under the carpet flap I see a gasketed cover, but I don't see any fasteners. I'll try (gently) to pry it off.

It's been rather winter-like for the past month, so the "typical" CKP sensor no-hot-start perhaps couldn't have developed?
