Update on Oil Leak - Solved ! (and I was the probable cause) 1 Saabers Like This Post! It was the brake booster vacuum three-way pipe - disconnected at the vacuum pump. Nitrile (or latex) glove test on oil filler inflated at idle - so the pressure WAS the issue.
I checked all vacuum connections and the pipe out of the cam-driven vacuum pump was loose. Confession: I am chagrined, but I almost certainly pulled this out to avoid breaking it when I replaced the brake master cylinder about 2500 miles ago.
I changed out the oil and filter and cleaned extensively. I also replaced the dipstick with an "easier to read" gray plastic version. All seems good now. This is the same car for which I posted separately about a P0455 code that came back after replacing the Evap purge valve, so I did no further tracing on that for now. There's an off chance that when the car ran the Evap test there was pressure instead of vacuum at the TB.
Thanks for the help and encouragement - and I'm happy to share that the engine is not worn out, just a vacuum hose issue
