Torx Plus before. Seems to be some sort of modificatin to the Torx profile. However, I stand by my earlier preference for Allen head fasteners.
As a young man, I used to work with my father in his tool and die shop. We built and assembled dies used for stamping automotive parts. In almost all cases, Allen head fasteners were used to assemble them. Believe me, the bolts we used, whether large or small got reefed on, but good. With the Allen, or hex insert, the wrench stays oriented better in it, meaning i'm less likely to round them off or bust my knuckles when I'm working with difficult access.
Assembly systems have somewhat different requirements. Sure they have to hold, but you've got to be able to insert your tool in them fast, and drive em home. Getting them back out and re-inserted isn't their main concern.
But don't get me wrong, torx is by far better than other types of fasteners. Especially philips.
