Relay "666" is on the wiring diagram. every switch, junction, relay, etc. in every different version and model has its unique number. In the engine bay, FR1 holds "666" in the North American cars, while it holds 228b (a bit of circuitry that lights the pictogram when a high beam bulb burns out). Since North American "Xenon" equipped cars' high beam bulbs are only supposed to burn for maybe 3 minutes during the entire life of the car, that function was omitted.
In the wiring book, FR13 is called "spotlights". I don't know that there's a factory-built model that uses these, but I'm guessing the space is left for police cars and runway friction test cars. Extra driving lights (not fog lights) may be common in Europe in the far north, what with 20+ hours of darkness and scant population, and so the wiring space for them.
Relay 8a "latches" the high beams. It's not clear to me from the wiring diagram how this all works, but 8a must be energized for the main beams to stay on after the stalk is released.
And by the way, I'm not being coy with the wiring diagram. I firmly believe that if one is going to take a $40,000 car and rewire it, one should spring for a copy. Othwise, the smoke will surely find a way to get out of the wires, and we don't want that!
