GOOD CATCH JOHN. IT HAS THE CORRECT NUMBER OF DIGITS TO BE A PHONE # & I BELIEVE THAT 978 IS A VALID AREA CODE. MAYBE IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH ON-STAR DIAGNOSTICS (AN ALERT TO CALL THEM REGARDING A VEHICLE ISSUE), OR MAYBE TO RENEW A SUBSCRIPTION. WHEN I PURCHASED MY '05 9-7 THIS MONTH, THE PREVIOUS OWNER MUST HAVE PAID FOR A FULL YEAR IN ADVANCE BECAUSE I HIT THE ON-STAR BUTTON ON THE MIRROR BY ACCIDENT & AN OPERATOR CAME ON & ASKED ME WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS.
YOU CAN DO A REVERSE PHONE LOOKUP THROUGH YAHOO & FIND OUT IF IT'S A VALID PHONE # & WHO IT BELONGS TOO.
IF YOURS IS A USED 9-7, MAYBE THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD THE ON-STAR CELPHONE SERVICE & THAT'S ONE OF THE SPEED-DIAL NUMBERS THEY PROGRAMMED IN TO THE SYSTEM.
