Yes the air compressor comes on when you start it. If you have open the door and put your left foot on the groung before you turn the key on, you will feel the truck rise as it pumps up.
The tilt could be either and adjustment or a leaking air shock.
There is a bulletin concerning the clunk clunk when coming to a stop. If it is what I think it is, then you never had the transfer case output shaft and yoke replaced. Give me the last 8 digits of your VIN and I can see if it was ever done.
