05, 9-7X All Wheel Drive
Posted by UncleDon (more from UncleDon) on Wed, 29 Dec 2010 18:03:32

Bought my 97x in August 2010. My 10th Saab to date with my 03 9-5 Arc wagon & my '87 SPG still running & in my driveway right now. (Yes, the SPG is under a cover & up for the Winter!!) After I got over the GM mindset like control placement & finally got used to (NOT) reaching for the center console for the locks & window controls, I started to get comfortable & loved the ride as well as the space. It handles (handled) a lot like my '97 CSE with a nice smooth ride & held its ground in the turns.....UNTIL the AWD died. Not only is the AWD actuator motor dead but the front differential is cooked. The front wheels won't even freewheel when up on a lift & in fact grind. I've never been able to get the AWD to engage as far as I know & there is no indicator on the dash to tell you that it's active, only a check light upon engine start & that only checks the electronics & not the mechanicals. My dealer can't seem to find a new, used or rebuilt differential & apparently there is no stock or new ones to be found.

Does anyone know where I might find either a new, used or rebuilt unit? Without one my 9-7 is nothing more than a paperweight & either I hold onto it until one can be found or it has to be junked. The vehicle was mint until this happened. I'd prefer to fix it & hold onto it since I own it free & clear.

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
