I don't necessairily drive on a lot of stones or gravel but I'm not sure if I want to take the chance of getting chips. I like the smoother look without the running boards but don't want to cause problems by taking them off. I'm also looking into Envoy Denali running boards which are molded fiberglass and blend with the lines of the 9-7 much better but would still offer some protection.
