honestly, for the work to take it out of the car, vs the work to clean up "foam dust" everywhere (you can use drop cloths, but it's going to still be messy)... I'd pull the headliner...

I've done 2 of these... see the link below for photos, and a thread with lots of good tips! it's a pretty easy weekend project...
