Clutch suddenly stopped engaging

I have a 86 Saab 900 with close to one hundred ninety thousand miles. the clutch has been acting up for months when shifting into 3rd gear.

Today when backing into my parking spot I heard a small clang like some thing let lose and then the clutch pedal had no pressure and moved freely.
It is now stuck in reverse and would not come out of the gear.

Just looking for input before I get under it.
