IMHO, stick with what is on the car, as close as you can get to original. My son has a red '89 900 vert. The PO painted it with a slightly different color red with a cheap paint job. The hood is badly oxidized and faded now. Since they didn't go with what was on the car originally, it's going to be hard for us to just repaint the hood and have it match.

If you plan to change color or go with a metallic, spring for an expensive job that you won't have to redo in a couple years.
