C900 Bulletin Board 1979-1993 & 94 Conv | |
Hey Orhan. The Red Box is a good upgrade, but it was originally made for the Commemorative Editions which also came with a 2.8 bar fuel pressure regulator and a special distributor with an enhanced vacuum advance. As far as I know, this combination got it to 185 hp. So the Red Box alone will give you a slight performance gain (with no damage risk at all), but if you want a real improvement, upgrade your 2.0 bar FPR to a 2.8 or 3.0. The special distributor is impossible to find and very expensive since it is so rare. There are other upgrades that I would do before tracking one of those down - like modifying the Red Box to have a better acceleration curve or adding a custom fuel chip to your ECU.
That said, the Red Box is a plug and play upgrade with no risk of damage to your engine whether stock or modified as long as it is a c900 16-valve turbo from like 1988 on.
