The tensioner was only '85 and part of '86. If you have a funny rattle at idle, and your chain isn't worn out, it is probably the upper guide pad. The upper guide pad is just a rubber pad that is bolted to the top inside of the valve cover. The chain slaps against it between the two cams. It can make some noise if it's hardened to become more plastic and less rubber. I think they are still available. To check if your chain is worn out, remove your chain tensioner and look at the photo linked below.
Talking about finding vacuum leaks with an air-fuel ratio gauge, usually I'd let the thing idle or take it for a drive with everything normal, looking at the air-fuel gauge, then I'd remove a vac line from the manifold (plug the hole of course), go for a drive and monitor the gauge again, and repeat until I'd found the one that made a noticeable difference. Even with a narrowband air-fuel ratio gauge that uses your stock oxygen sensor readings, it should be noticeable. Widebands deliver readings accurate enough for fuel mapping and tuning, but require a special oxygen sensor and are expensive.
