Hard to say. When properly maintained these engines can go for a very long time.
My first C900 (purchased new) went to about 400,000 miles, though it did develop a cracked valve at about the 200,000 mile mark. (At that point there was no cylinder ridge and you could still see the factory honing in the cylinders.) It wasn't the engine that finally did it in, it was yet another transmission failure plus rust.
My current C900 has about 300,000 miles on it and still runs like new. Obviously as with anything mechanical it's possible to wear these engines out but you really have to work at it.
In contrast, the transmissions on these cars are brittle like they're made out of glass. It's much more likely the car you're considering will have transmission problems rather than engine problems.
If you get a C900 with a good trans there are plenty of tips on the board for keeping it happy. (The 5-speed in my current 900 has about 160,000 miles since rebuild and it's still tight and quiet.)
