#1 you do NOT want to accidentally apply voltage to your ohmmeter (you'll fry some of it). #2 Because you must isolate the element you wish to test. In this case, let's just say that your heated mirrors are wired in parallel with the hatch window. If you apply your meter to the 2 wires anywhere (like at the connection on the hatch), your meter can push amperage thru not just the window, but thru ANY parallel component (like a mirror) and give you a good continuity meter reading which in fact may be WRONG. Disconnect it, isolate it, test it - Infinity = bad, 0-1 ohms = good, generally. Good luck. Vern
