If it were in pristine condition and a garage queen, I might appreciate $4K (although for an 82 I wouldn't be too excited unless I was looking for that precise year in my fictional every-year 900 collection).
But the first owner put 60K miles on it per year in its first two years. It's had an easy life in the latest 30 years but the car was very busy in the first two.
And signs of rust from a Vermont car are a little unsettling.
Crazies like us value these cars but the rest of the world...not so much. So something like $1000 might be a fair price.
I'd get down beneath the car with a bright light and a thin screwdriver to look for more rust before I'd even consider a start-offer of $700.
