I had a Saab mechanic for neighbor. He would disconnect the upper rad hose overheat switch and jump them together on his personal Saabs. I had one of those switches fail halfway. It would pass an ohms test but wasn't strong enough to pass all the voltage to fire the compressor. I saw a couple cars where the switches all are good but the compressor still wouldn't get voltage. A shade tree mechanic jumped something and they've both been working for a couple years. I think in those cases it might have been a weak connection at the firewall multi plug. But there is nothing technical with that supposition since the shade tree can't stand to pull the bolster (big stomach in his way)
