So you think it's in the wires themselves?
What's weird is that this entire thing was working before it was moved - as an assembly - into a new tank.
Plus, the wires being shorted drives the gauge to full. Plus another sender was already tried (though obviously the wires weren't changed out).
Can you elaborate a little on what you're thinking here? I'm not sure it makes sense to me that the wires would be the issue.
Or maybe just a 3rd sender needs to be tried (that the original and the replacement both somehow are inexplicably 'bad')?
I hope I am not sounding ungrateful for the idea, I just am not sure what it might be pointing to as a root cause.
I would have thought the float arm got bent, but manually moving the arm to its stopping point still reads 3/4 on the gauge...
