I've hot wired the pumps with 12 volts and on / off switch. Flip on the pump with an aux battery, then turn on the key to start.
If you are getting spark at the plugs, and the fuel pump is hot wired, and running, as long as you have compression, it will start. Unless you are flooding fuel and then it would just make the plugs wet.
this is why I rigged up a fitting to connect to the fuel rail to monitor pressure, so I know what the fuel pressure is. And made up a jumper cable to connect directly to the pump to run it via direct voltage, not through a relay or getting a signal from the LH unit.
It can only be one thing of three that keeps it from running -- compression, spark or fuel.
