Loosening lug nuts-- that was weird Posted by Arabiflora [Email] (#1129) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Arabiflora) on Fri, 7 Jul 2017 21:55:20 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
So I drove the '89 to campus on Thursday, a 15 mi, 30 minute ride. I thought I felt a bit af clicking on a few 45 mph turns early in the round trip, by the time I got back home I was leery of making turns at any speed.
I'll just cut to the chase, here-- the lugs on DS front wheel were 1-2 turns from being entirely free of the spindle. I'm lucky I didn't kill myself, even luckier I didn't hurt anyone else, either.
But... WTF? I bought the car and drove it ~900 mi back to Madison back in May-- solid as a rock. I've used it as my daily driver since then-- solid as a rock. I even took a business trip to St Louis and back, no issues (other than mild overheat). And then on Thursday things went to hell re: the DS front wheel lugs.
Any clues re: how these things happen (bad karma might be appropriate, but not very helpful)?
