Frozen ignition cylinder! Posted by rld082982 [Email] (#2197) [Profile/Gallery] (more from rld082982) on Mon, 10 Jul 2017 10:57:37 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hi all,
My first saabnet post.
Just starting to hopefully restore a 92 Saab. I think it's in pretty good shape overall, but after sitting for 5+ years, the state of the electrical system has me concerned.
But before I start with that, I need to figure out what the deal is with the ignition cylinder. I insert the key, and it won't turn.
I haven't been able to find much information on how to remove the cylinder completely. Apparently you have to insert the key, and also a metal wire to the underside of the cylinder? If that's the case, and the cylinder is indeed frozen and won't turn, will this method work? And how do I get to the underside of the cylinder? Do I have to dismantle the entire shifting assembly?
Thanks. -Dave
