Drove to work...then Police Station Posted by Matt Grimes [Email] (#2198) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Matt Grimes) on Mon, 17 Jul 2017 19:26:04 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
First official outing today. Drove to work and then stopped by police station in an attempt to get the VIN verified. A couple of observations:
a) the turbo whine seems louder than I would expect. Any lubrication points on these?
b) steering wheel has major play in the up/down direction almost like whatever bushing is supposed to be holding it tight to the column has significant wear...not sure how that would happen but that's what it feels like.
The police station was a major disappointment. First off, you walk in and everyone is behind one inch thick bullet proof glass. You have to talk to them through the glass using a microphone (I guess) and pass documents back and forth through a little slot. I'm thinking to my self; you've got to be kidding. My bank doesn't even have that level of security. And aren't these the people who are supposed to be protecting ME from the bad guys? And they have to hide behind bullet proof glass? Geee...something wrong with this picture. But I digress...
"Yes Sir,we do VIN verification on MWF" which seems like a good answer since it's Monday. "Let me check and see who we have available...oh..well I guess we won't have anyone here until Friday". Really, you would think any ol' officer could handle this task. Ah well...off to see my friend that owns a used car lot. A little further to drive but service with a smile.
After work a trip to the DMV...<SIGH>...Sales Tax...<AARRGHH>...but now I have plates and registration.
