Yup, removed the seats and consoles, then pulled out the carpets completely. I needed to do repair of the floors, so that was taken care of and new metal has been put in (undercoated and coated inside as well). Dynamat xtreme installed and floor padding reinstalled.
A local upholstery shop told me yesterday that dyed carpets will bleed and will continue to bleed. I'm not sure if this is really practical then. My car doesn't leak water inside, but when the rainy season does hit California, for sure it's going to be a lot more humid and you'll get some level of moisture into the carpets.
I mean, I can hose them down until the water runs clear and then let them sit out in the sun. But if they are always going to bleed some dye when they pull in some moisture?? o.O
Anyway, it is an interesting topic, since we seem to only have two options for carpet restoration with 900s: 1) old-carpet restoration or 2) new custom-made carpet. Too bad there are no suppliers that can mold new carpets.
