...that if one is not willing to invest $1000 in what is now a 30 year old classic car, one is probably not up to owning one. There are lots of other little things that will be wrong with the car for sure. Which things go first may be a bit of a surprise in some cases and evident in others. Buying one of these now is buying into a project that hopefully will be fun! Maybe you get it on the road sooner doing things bit by bit or maybe you go whole hog and do a complete stripdown and restoration like Jon does... expecting to buy one as a cheap immediate daily driver nowadays is probably a little optimistic, and if the car is in at all nice shape, probably not a great thing to do as these cars become more obscure. They can work as a daily driver, but I think it helps to at least have more than one (or some other alternate vehicle) available. Parts break on any vehicle, and it might take a day or 2 to source something for a c900 (unless you have a big stash of parts) whereas it might take an hour to source the equivalent part on a 9 year old Toyota.
