Given the variety of ways things can go suddenly wrong, a little more information might be helpful.
How many total miles? Last time clutch was replaced? What other components have been replaced? Last time clutch fluid was replaced/bled? Any obvious signs of leakage? Does pressure return if you pump it? Is the fluid level in the reservoir OK?
While air in the line might possibly contribute to a temperature induced pressure loss, from personal experience I would suspect seal failure. In my case it was the the slave cylinder, which I replaced along with a new clutch. The master cylinder went a couple of months later, as is not uncommon. It was replaced and a new clutch hose as well, to complete the overhaul. (I also rebuilt the clutch pedal.)
Look for leaks and check the reservoir level. If you have no pressure at all I would guess slave failure. If you have initial pressure that fades away, that suggests master failure. Replacing one tends to put stress on the other, so you might consider wholesale replacement as a means to avoiding future incidents. Bleed the system to make sure it's not just air in the line, but I think that's unlikely.
