Bit of a noob question so bear with me. I just replaced the harmonic balancer and alternator on my 1983 n/a sedan. The car runs so much better it's hard to believe. Is this just because a car is an assembly of rotating parts and replacing two of them makes the whole system work better? That makes sense to me, as far as it goes. But is it also that replacing the alternator, particularly upgrading from the old 70 amp alternator to a new 80 amp unit improves the quality of the current, and therefore the quality of the spark? Thanks for any light people can shed on this question.
